King Robbin is the king of Finallo and Matilda's father. As the ruler of the kingdom, he is responsible for protecting his people and making difficult decisions when danger threatens Finallo.

King Robbin deeply loves his daughter and worries about her safety. Because Matilda is the holder of The Magic Heart, he knows that her quest to recover the remaining gemstones will put her in serious danger. His concerns sometimes put him at odds with Matilda, who believes that she needs to personally help protect the kingdom.

King Robbin believes that the kingdom's guards could help deal with dangerous situations instead of allowing Matilda and Thomas to put themselves in harm's way. Matilda, however, believes that The Magic Heart gives her a unique ability to protect Finallo and that sending guards into certain situations could put even more lives at risk.

Even though King Robbin can be protective of Matilda, his concerns come from his love for his daughter and his responsibility as king. He wants Finallo to remain safe—and more than anything, he wants Matilda to come home safely.
