Thomas is Matilda's best friend and one of the main characters of The Magic Heart. Unlike Matilda, Thomas isn't a member of the royal family. He's a commoner from Finallo who has joined Matilda on her quest to find the remaining power gemstones of The Magic Heart.

Thomas is brave, loyal, funny, and sometimes a little reckless. He often uses humor to lighten the mood, especially when Matilda is nervous or frustrated. He's also not afraid to challenge Matilda when he thinks she needs to hear something, and the two of them frequently tease each other.

Despite his joking personality, Thomas takes Matilda's safety very seriously. After the battle with the Ice Dragon, he becomes overwhelmed with guilt because his sneeze accidentally woke the dragon and put both of them in danger. He worries that something could happen to Matilda and that King Robbin would blame him for failing to protect her.

Thomas also worries about the dangers that await them as they search for the remaining gems. However, Matilda reminds him that they are a team and that he doesn't have to face those dangers alone. Thomas promises that he won't give up on her or himself.

Thomas and Matilda have an incredibly close friendship. They trust each other, protect each other, and are always there for one another. Thomas may be a commoner, but Matilda makes it clear that she doesn't see him as being beneath her. To her, he's simply her best friend.
